I was listening to a podcast the other day with writer, poet and philosopher
John O’ Donohue and he spoke passionately about the nature of “beauty.”
He said the Greek root for the word "beauty" is related to the word for “calling.”
So it’s as if “beauty” is calling you. What a wonderful imaginative way of framing that word. And it does seem to me that there is a beckoning quality to something beautiful.
He elaborates as it relates to our inner process - “It's not a neutral thing, but it's actually calling you, you know? And I feel that one could write a wonderful psychology just based on the notion of being called, you know, being called to be yourself and called to transfigure what has hardened or got wounded within you.”
When I heard that I sensed parallels to my coaching practice. My goal is to support folks to hear to their “call”
and transmute the “hardened” places that block that knowing. I believe some of those solidified areas hold hostage valuable energies. Freeing those energies enable us to hear our "call" and to expand into greater expressions of our beauty.
So here’s to what’s beckoning you. May your beauty speak.
